The One Thing Missing from Every Baby Registry (That You’ll Wish You Had!)

expecting parents parenting

When you’re pregnant, creating a baby registry is one of the most exciting (and overwhelming) tasks on your to-do list. We spend hours researching the best stroller, comparing bottles, and reading endless reviews on baby monitors. But after our baby arrives, we realize that no amount of gear can truly prepare us for the sleepless nights, the feeding struggles, and the constant worry over every little milestone and change.

As a new mom, I felt this in my core. I had all of the “things” but what I missed most on my registry was support.

The truth is, that one thing missing from my baby registry is also missing from most parents' too. As parents, we spend so much time choosing the right things for our baby that we forget to prepare for the journey of parenting itself. Bringing a baby home is a BIG deal. And most new parents, including myself, find themselves stuck: we have all the stuff, but no real help when we need it.

The baby registry mistake we, as parents, make

It’s so easy to get caught up in the idea that having the right products will make those early months easier. And while good baby gear is helpful (and necessary), it’s not the best option to get us through the hardest nights or the trickiest feeding challenges.

As parents, we don’t often think to register for support because, well, we don’t know what we don’t know. Until we’re sleep-deprived, struggling with breastfeeding, or unsure if our baby’s development is on track, we don’t realize how much guidance really matters.

Imagine this: It’s 2 AM, your newborn won’t stop crying, and you’ve already tried feeding, burping, rocking, and everything else you can think of. You’re scrolling through Google, searching for answers, but all you find are conflicting opinions, general information, and some answers that are pretty scary! But, what if you had a library of information at your finger tips, or access to a community of experts & parents to turn to for real advice? (Man! I would have KILLED for this as a FTM.)

So, what is the solution that should be on every baby registry!?

Instead of only focusing on things, what if parents could register for confidence, expert guidance, and real-time support? Here’s what that could look like for you 👇

1. A Membership for New Parents

Imagine having a trusted resource that answers all of your questions, sleep, feeding, milestones, and everything in between. A monthly membership designed for new parents is one of the best gifts you can give yourself (or a loved one). It means that instead of feeling alone in the hardest moments, you have expert advice at your fingertips. No turning to Google, or social media for answers. Your difficulties matter and you deserve to have the support you need.

2. Access to Live Consults

Some of the most common challenges new parents face (including myself) are lactation struggles, sleep issues, & introducing solids. These things could be so much easier with a little guidance. Instead of waiting until you’re desperate, or waiting months until you see your healthcare provider, what if you could schedule a quick session with an expert who knows exactly how to help? Having services like this on a baby registry ensures that we, as parents, get real, personalized support when we need it most.

3. Baby Development & Milestone Guidance

Every parent wonders if their baby is hitting milestones on time. And with so much (& often conflicting) information online, it’s easy to spiral into worry. Having access to expert-backed milestone guidance helps parents understand what’s normal, how to support their baby’s development, and when to reach out for extra help if needed.

I want support! So how do I add this to my registry!?

So, how do you actually add support to your baby registry when most platforms are designed for products? Here are a few ideas:

  • Gift Cards for Parent Education & Services: At Infant Insights, we allow people to purchase our membership as a gift. This membership includes content, community, and support from experts & parents in the same season as you. Send this link to a loved one, or add this link to your registry!
  • Share Your Baby Registry with a Note: Let friends and family know that, while you appreciate all the baby gear, you would also LOVE support. You can say something like: “We are so excited to welcome our baby and would love the gift of expert support as we navigate these early months! We’d love contributions towards new parent support or baby services, like those through Infant Insights."

The Best Gift You Can Give Yourself as a New Parent

Looking back on my own postpartum journeys, the most invaluable resource would have been more support in those early days. I had more support with my second child because I understood the value that support brings and this changed the trajectory of our baby stage experience. The swings, swaddles, and bassinets were all so helpful too, but what really made a difference in my life was knowing I had experts that could support me along the way. The same can be true for you with Bloom by Infant Insights!

So, if you’re currently building your baby registry (or know someone who is), consider adding support for the baby stage to the list. Because when the sleepless nights, endless questions, and unexpected challenges come, having the right guidance is worth more than any baby gadget.
